We're Winners

Red Sox win.
Cubs win.

Yankees lost.
Milwaukee lost.

We both clinched our division tonight. It's a good day in the Baker/Zalinski household.

?!?!?!

I don't understand why the places that we've registered with feel it's necessary to email me constantly, reminding me exactly how many days/weeks it is until the wedding.

Do they think I'm going to forget??? Wow, is it 5 weeks already, I've just been so busy watching tv and doing laundry that I'd lost track of time.

I don't think any Bride in the history of modern-day wedding planning has ever NOT realized when their wedding is a mere 5 weeks away. In fact, the 6 week mark was what put us into overdrive. We are taking care of business in a major way. Tux? check. Dress? check. Music? Check. Decorations? No check. But we're working on it... Jeesh! After all, we do have 5 weeks left. Right?

RSVPs are in!

We're actually quite stunned. The RSVPs are in, and there are less than 15 people (out of over 150) who can't come to the wedding. That's pretty outstanding.

We are so lucky to have such an amazing group of family and friends. And we're going to make sure that everyone has a great time!

Hello Sailor!

Today, we went out after work and bought my man a tux. Correction, THE tux. He looks hot. And it fits him perfectly. Daniel Craig, eat your heart out!

Now, he'll look great for our wedding too.

Boston

My wonderful almost-husband and I will be coming home to Boston this weekend for a variety of reasons:

1) Rosh Hashana
2) Wedding Shower #2
3) Red Sox/Yankees series
4) Bachelorette Party #2

If you are going to be around, give us a call. We're actually going to be in town for more than 36 hours this time, so we can make plans in advance. We arrive Wednesday late PM, and are in town through Sunday.

See you then!!

9/11

Can we all believe how much time has gone by?

Moment of silence.

Phew!! That was close.

With the end of regular season play coming up, I had a scary realization. Our wedding is scheduled right at the end of the post season. And the Red Sox are leading the race to post-season contention!

But don't fear, I called Bud Selig, shared my concerns, and he was kind enough to insert a day between Games 2 and 3 in the world series so that we can hold our wedding, just in case the red sox are in it.

Seriously. That would have been bad. We would have had to bring in TVs!

Aren't we just darling?

Peguin Suits are funny

Last night, we went out to our local Men's Wearhouse to pick out the tuxes for the guys standing up. It was a hysterical experience. For me. Probably not so much for the guys I was laughing at.

While I was sitting there, paying partial attention to the book of styles the Hubby was flipping through, several groups of groomsmen passed through to pick up their suits for weekend weddings. Before they left with the suit, they were all required to try them on, to ensure the fit. Two sweet women were there to assist. One was helping us, the other was helping the guys as they came through.

It was amazing. Each guy came out with their pants around their hips, and the poor sales girl kept having to hike them up to bellybutton level in order to ensure they fit. Guy after guy, stood there blushing, their arms a kimbo, waiting for this tiny blond thing to finish buckling their pants. Two guys couldn't tie their own tie, and had to ask for help. Priceless. Another guy got into a fight with the girl because he wouldn't put on the peds provided while he was trying on his shoes. He insisted that the shoes were too small, and she insisted that it was because he was wearing athletic socks instead of dress socks. Men in Peds. What's funnier than that?

I was truly laughing out loud. At them. There was a pregnant spouse of one of the men who was sitting in one of the chairs next to me. I turned to her after a particularly amusing interaction and said "Are you enjoying this as much as I am?". She laughed, looked at Zeke, who was being measured at the time-- arms also akimbo--and nodded.

After all of those guys left, we were able to select a Tux style that we think will fit all of our guys. FYI: 3-button suits, we've been told, are not good for athletic body types.

Our pick. 2-Button, Calvin Klein. Black Satin Vest. Ivory shirt (match the dress people!). Cranberry long Tie. Shiny shoes. Done and Done. Z is going to buy a tux. The fact that rented suits can't be altered made him angry.

Sorry Z, there's a new love in my life. (Although, I'm sure I'm being replaced by the same product...) Maybe we can work something out :)
